Frontier Internet is a great option for those looking for a no-contract alternative to Xfinity’s one-year agreement. Now that it offers its Fios fiber-optic service, with much faster speeds than cable or DSL, Frontier is a competitive option for many, though more limited in availability and with lower customer service rankings.
Xfinity offers plenty of options for residential use and is also a good choice for business owners. It has packages that go as fast as 1 Gbps, along with lower-cost options that are designed to meet most budgets. Xfinity is available in most areas and offers consistently reliable service, making it the top choice for many users.

Comcast Xfinity vs. Verizon DSL: Affordability
When it comes to the price of Frontier and Xfinity, you often get what you pay for. The faster the speeds, the higher the price of monthly service will be. This is true for both companies.
Xfinity’s lower-end packages do offer a bit more speed for the price, with its 25 Mbps plan starting at $29.99 per month as of March 2020. At the top-end, Xfinity offers its 1 Gbps plan starting at $84.99 per month. Keep in mind that these plans require a one-year contract.
Frontier is a better overall value and offers lower-priced packages with slower speeds for those on a budget. Although its cheapest plan, which starts at $27.99 per month as of March 2020, is only 6 Mbps, it offers a 50 Mbps Fios fiber plan for the same price as Xfinity’s 25 Mbps cable internet plan. Frontier’s top 1 Gbps Fios plan is also $74.99 per month, $10 cheaper than Xfinity’s. And there is no contract required.

Xfinity vs. Frontier: which is right for you?
Frontier offers great pricing on high-speed plans, no contracts and it may even be the only choice in some rural areas. However, when it comes down to the total package, it’s tough to beat Xfinity as the most reliable and widely available internet provider with better customer service rankings. If you have the choice and plan to stay put long enough to handle a one-year contract, we recommend Xfinity. Check provider availability to see which providers are in your area.
