Fios by Verizon is a high-speed internet service offered by Verizon. They deliver internet through a vast network of fiber-optic cables that transmit data faster than other internet options.

Verizon has been providing this service since 2005 and is now currently in eight states, as well as Washington D.C. If Verizon is in your area, it’s worth looking at their offerings.

Fios by Verizon at-a-glance

Fios by Verizon offers three very affordable, very fast internet packages — with speeds ranging from 100 Mbps to 940 Mbps (and if you’re not sure whether that’s fast, just know you only need 5 Mbps to stream in HD). Plus, whether you’re new to Verizon or are an existing customer for another Verizon service, there are many sign-up deals all year round to encourage you to join.

Fios by Verizon internet packages

Verizon Fios currently offers three plans. Verizon’s smallest plan is 100 Mbps, which should certainly allow most customers to browse, stream or game without interruption.

  • 200 Mbps

  • The 200 Mbps plan is best for individuals or couples, and it can comfortably support between four and seven devices connected to the internet. This means you could be streaming TV while also surfing the internet on your phone, tablet and computer all at the same time.

  • 400 Mbps

  • Have a family? Have more than two people using the internet? Do you like to binge stream or share large files? 400 Mbps can comfortably support eight connected devices or more all actively streaming and using the internet.

  • Gigabit Connection

  • With connections routinely between 880 Mbps and 940 Mbps, you and your whole family can do just about anything you want online. This plan is best for large families and can support up to 100 devices at the same time using the internet. For homes with teenagers, frequent visitors or even a small office, this plan is a strong option.

Fios by Verizon internet fees

Fios by Verizon data caps

Data caps severely limit how much you can do each month with your internet package. Go over the data limit, and your speed either drastically slows down or you have to pay a fee.

The good news for Verizon FIOS customers is that they get unlimited internet without any fees or slowdowns. Stream as much as you want to stream; browse as much as you want to browse, and download as much as you want to download. There are no hard or soft data caps with Verizon Fios.

Xfinity customer satisfaction ratings

70

The American Customer Satisfaction Index (or ACSI) rated Verizon with a 70% customer satisfaction in 2019. Though this number could be higher, Verizon actually rated better than all of its competitors.

Though AT&T almost rivals Verizon in customer satisfaction, it does waver from year to year. Since ACSI started measuring it in 2013, AT&T often dipped to 65 if not 64.

Verizon, however, has stayed steady at 70, if not 71. It’s lowest was in 2015 when it received a 68, but it bounced back the very next year with a 73 (showing, perhaps, that it responded to external criticism).
