Shentel Internet Packages

Shentel offers internet packages for every type of consumer with varying speeds and data caps for each price point.

  • PowerHouse 50 Mbps Internet

  • The 50 Mbps option is ideal for small households with no more than five devices. While it won’t take on a huge load, you’ll be fine with the basics, like surfing the web, shopping online, doing school and office work. This probably isn’t enough speed for streaming a lot of movies, shows or gaming. Comes with security for one computer, plus antivirus, 50 GB of file backup, virus removals and parental controls. You can also purchase unlimited data with any package for $30 more a month.

  • PowerHouse 150 Mbps Internet

  • The 150 Mbps tier is ideal for households that stream on multiple devices at the same time, up to eight. This plan comes with security for one computer and one other mobile device, plus antivirus protection, 50 GB in file backup, a password keep, virus removal and parental controls. You can also purchase unlimited data with any package for $30 more a month.

  • PowerHouse 300 Mbps Internet

  • This tier is great for families with heavy usage activities, like streaming video and web-based gaming. Its best fit is a household with connection needs for up to 11 devices. You’ll also get a Tech Home Security Protect plan, which will protect your devices and your data against online threats. The plan covers one computer and one mobile device, and offers antivirus protection, 50 GB in file backup, a password keep, virus removal and parental controls. You can also purchase unlimited data with any package for $30 more a month.

  • PowerHouse 1 Gbps Internet

  • With 1 Gbps, you’ll have the fastest available internet speed, great for large families, especially ones who have members who telecommute. All HD content is downloaded with ease, instantly, and you’ll have no problem using your Netflix, Hulu and other top streaming services across multiple devices simultaneously. Good for gaming and sharing large files. The standard plan gives you 3 TB of data, but you can always pay extra for unlimited. The plan covers one computer and one mobile device, and offers antivirus protection, 50 GB in file backup, a password keep, virus removal and parental controls.

Shentel Internet Fees

  • Shentel fees include installation, which typically runs $99.95, but is often waived or cut in half, spending on the offer.
  • Equipment rental fees for modems, phones and cable boxes.
  • Exceeding your data allowance is another big way to incur charges. You’ll pay $10 per 50 GB you go over your allotted amount (which varies based on your internet plan).
  • Customers have the option to purchase unlimited data with any internet package.
  • Returned or cancelled payments by check are subject to a $30 charge. Taxes and installation fees are not included in any Shentel price listed on their website.

Shentel Internet Deals

But where Shentel may hit you in the fees department, it offers many deals, too. For starters, as discussed above, you get antivirus, parental controls and more with each package. You can get $25 off for the first two months when you sign up for any internet plan on its own. Bundle that with TV and phone, and you’ll save $75 for the first two months. You’ll also get installation free, which is advertised on Shentel’s site as $99.95. As of July 2020, Tech Home Protect comes free with any internet package. As with many providers, these deals are subject to change often. Shentel also offers a 30-day money-back guarantee

Shentel Data Caps

Shentel has data caps on all four of its internet packages, ranging from 500 GB to 3 TB, with the higher limit, of course, being the priciest package. Exceeding your data allowance is another way to incur unwanted changes. You’ll pay $10 per 50 GB if you go over your allotted amount, but you do have the option to purchase unlimited data with any internet package.

Shentel Customer Satisfaction Ratings

Shentel is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) but has an A+ rating for customer interaction. Customer reviews, however, rate Shentel with 1 out of 5 stars with negative reviews mostly focusing on service, not receiving as-advertised internet speeds and customer service. As of July 2020, Shentel is not rated by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI).
